David Moore

David Moore is the Senior Lecturer of MA Photography at Central Saint Martins.

David Moore has been a London based practising photographer since 1989 after graduating from West Surrey College of Art and Design.

He has had comprehensive experience of the medium in that time continuously exhibiting and publishing his work. His work is held in public and private collections and he has been the recipient of several major funding awards from Arts Council England and The British Council to name two. David is a widely published and exhibited photographic practitioner using documentary modes to observe state and social apparatus and challenge the medium itself.

Recent practice particularly has centred around the representation of 'panoptic' spaces. David has experimented with film- making [Monitor, 2007] and collaborative practice with writers, curators and other artists. His 2008 book publication and touring exhibition, The Last Things [Dewi Lewis Publishing] developed various strands of practice yet further. This body of work toured internationally and showed in such venues as Impressions, York, Belfast Exposed, and overseas, 2010 Thessaloniki Photo-Biennale, other group shows include Les Photaumnales 2010, Beauvais, France and Look11, Liverpool International Photography Festival , 2011. In April 2013 with the support of Arts Council England and the Research office of CSM, David published Pictures from the Real World, a revised edit on a little seen body of documentary work made in 1987-88 with an essay by David Chandler.

David's practice concerns itself with explorations of institutional and hegemonical power via state, social or corporate apparatus. David often employs The Document as a genre and has also worked with film and performance genres.
