2005 The Elephant Vanishes

Elephant Archive: Making the New

A collaboration between Tate Modern and UAL Photography and the Archive Research Centre.

Following on from PARC's recent Elephant Vanishes Study Day, Sophie Howarth (Tate Modern) and Val Williams (PARC) have devised a workshop, which would build on the foundations laid by the Study Day and on Tate's ongoing programme of events and courses involving interaction with the local community.

An intensive week-long project for sonic and visual artists, writers, architects, anthropologists, geographers etc to contribute to the development of a contemporary archive around the Elephant and Castle area. The week will be led by Sophie Howarth and Val Williams, with others invited to contribute at various points.

The project will be advertised in the next Tate Modern programme. Participants will be selected from application and will be based in the E&C area
