2001: Martin Parr : Photographic Works
This major retrospective exhibition at the Barbican Art Gallery , was curated by Val Williams and organized by Brigitte Lardinois. The exhibition explored Parr's work from the early 1970s up to 2001. It included such series as Butlins by the Sea, June Street, Home Sweet Home, The Last Resort, The Cost of Living, Small World and Autoportraits. It was accompanied by Martin Parr, written by Val Williams, and published by Phaidon.
The exhibition was widely reviewed, in publications which included The Times, the Guardian and Time Out. It toured extensively after the orginal London showing, with venues including the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television, the Reiner Sofia Museum in Madrid, the National Museum of Photography in Copenhagen, the Deichterhallen in Hamburg and Kulturhuset in Stockholm.
